One visa cancellation prompts VFA revocation? One person’s privilege of access to a foreign country to enjoy his legislative junket, by all calculation, does not warrant the endangerment of our national security.
The VFA is a well-thought of mutual military pact that went thru the wringer of various goverment branches giving the AFP the indispensable training and access to state-of-the art weaponry and tactical combat against any external threat.
The order to terminate the VFA is a void and illegal order to redress a factotum’s grievance that requires immediate repudiation by the AFP. The revocation of VFA as retaliation for the visa recall of a perceived brutal enforcer of EJK is disproportionate and ill-advised. Where the VFA termination is allowed, we imperil our standing in the international community. International Law is part of our legal system and enshrined no less in our Constitution trashed by the sitting president in a number of times. For the past 4 years, this country slides into the abyss of immorality and corruption. The AFP has the option to champion the country’s conscience and promote morality and good governance under the Rule of Law.
“Principle IV. The fact that a person acted pursuant to order of his Government or of a superior does not relieve him from responsibility under the law, provided a moral choice was in fact possible to him” (Nuremberg Principles)
Memo to AFP, part 2:
Now that China is distracted where it faces a NCoV pandemic, any incursion by the AFP to depose this incompetent regime, is on the dot. President Trump called Duterte’s bluff of abrogating VFA, a defense program close to the heart of PH soldiers, the time is ripe for the AFP to prove itself as truly the protector of the people.
As the House of Representatives has expressed near unanimous assent allowing political dynasties to thrive, the people will forever be grateful if these dynasties are arrested and tried by a military tribunal. Majority of our people are now loathe to the rapacity of dynasties devouring our hard earnedtaxes. While China has the NCoV pandemic, here we have a dynasty epidemic. Where in the world can one finds a country where even in the lowliest barangays we have the well-funded dynasties up to the municipalities, provinces and no less than the Senate.
“Dynasties are funding their political ambitions with taxpayer money”…Boo Chanco (“Total Disrespect for Taxpayers” Demand and Supply)
The AFP can call an elected Con Con to revise the existing Constitution and with a fixed timetable, turn over political power to a civilian government. The ‘Tiger-riding’ bogeyman won’t gain traction as the US EU Japan Aus and Canada are on hand to rein in the domestic Junta. Paging Generals Lorenzana and Rio!
